I applied a very heavy matte clear coat over all of the vinyl lettering so kids wouldn't try picking or writing on the surface.  

An option would have been to produce a computer-generated Scotchprint to fit.  However,  the client wanted to be assured that any vinyl sheeting would not lift off the Sintra back substrate, and we were happy to oblige.
